Stop by the 2nd Annual Cortland County Pride Festival

The 2nd annual Cortland Community Pride Festival will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 10am-2pm at Courthouse Park (33 Church Street). This is a free, family-friendly event that will feature 70+ vendors, lawn games, a costume contest (with a Build-A-Bear axolotl plushie as the prize!), a drag show, and plenty of giveaways, including a gift basket filled with donations from over 40 local businesses and agencies. Anyone who attends the festival and signs in at the Center’s table with their email address will be entered to win the gift basket!

We at the Cortland LGBTQ Center would like to let you know about our services:

  • The Cortland LGBTQ Center seeks to create a visible and empowered community through education, advocacy, resource enhancement, and linkages to essential services for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer-identified people, as well as their families and other supportive community members.

  • We are a division of Family and Children’s Counseling Services, located at 165 S Main St., Suite A, in the Crescent Commons building in the City of Cortland.

  • We offer a variety of services, including educational presentations, social events, and support for individuals and families. You can see our full range of services at our website: cortlandlgbtqcenter.org

  • Currently, we have two monthly groups that are open to LGBTQ adults only, but our Craft Night and Game Night groups are open to anyone, including allies and families, ages 13+ and 10+, respectively.

  • We also offer a self-guided Parenting Series for parents of LGBTQ youth. Our Parenting Series features videos addressing common concerns and questions that parents and guardians may have when their child comes out. cortlandlgbtqcenter.org/parenting

  • Do you have a loved one who has recently come out, but you’re not sure how to best support them? Do you feel confused by all the new labels and terms you see in the community? Do you want to make your workplace more welcoming to LGBTQ folks, but you’re not sure how to do so? We schedule 1:1 consultations by appointment. Please know that these are not therapeutic appointments, but opportunities to talk with a staff member to process feelings or ask questions that you may have concerning LGBTQ issues and the community. You can email our Program Coordinator, Mike Doughty, to schedule a consultation: mdoughty@familycs.org

  • The Center is also open for drop-in visits every Tuesday through Friday from 2-5pm at our Main Street address: 165 S Main, Suite A. Changes to our drop-in schedule is always posted on our social media accounts: @cortlandlgbtq on both Facebook and Instagram, and on our event calendar: https://cortlandlgbtqcenter.org/events
