Dive into Adventure: Join the Summer Reading Program at Cortland Free Library!

Summer is almost here, and what better way to kick off the summer break than taking part in the Summer Reading Program at the Cortland Free Library? This year's theme, "Adventure Begins at Your Library," promises a summer full of fun, exploration, and, of course, lots of books!

When and How to Sign Up Starting Monday, June 24th, you can sign up for the Summer Reading Program, but don't worry if you miss the first day—you have until August 9th to join the fun! Sign up is easy and can be done in person at the library or online at Cortland Free Library’s website.

Special Treats for Early Birds The first 100 children who sign up and visit the library will get a special treat:

  • Adopt a Little Hedgehog: will get to adopt a little hedgehog

  • Free Cookie: enjoy a delicious treat from Frosted Bakery.

Cool rewards for every child Every child will receive a cable ring to collect this year’s awesome brag tags.

Fun for Ages 3-12 Children between the ages of 3 and 12 can play our life-size game board. Win free books, exciting prizes, and raffle tickets for the end-of-summer grand prize draw!

How It Works

  • Track Your Reading: Keep track of the minutes you read, whether you’re reading by yourself, reading to someone, or being read to.

  • Earn Entries: For every 10 minutes logged, your name gets entered into the weekly prize drawing.

Grand Prize Extravaganza Read 1,000 minutes or more, and you and your family will get invited to a SUNY Cortland Red Dragons home football game! You’ll receive t-shirts and get to go onto the field at halftime to be recognized, thanks to our partnership with SUNY Cortland Athletics.

Join the Fun Don’t miss out on this amazing adventure! Grab your books, start reading, and dive into a summer of excitement and rewards at the Cortland Free Library.

Adventure truly begins at your library—see you there!
