BEaudry

Location: Scammell Street, Cortland

Sports: basketball, tennis

Playground buildings will be open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., from June 26 through August 18. The park buildings are open to youth ages 7 through 14. Each building has a ping-pong, fooseball, and pool table. There are also various board games and craft supplies to use. Every park building is supervised by a Park Leader who prepares daily activities. Participants are free to come and go as they please throughout the day. Please note: children under 7 years old must be with an adult 18 years or older.


 

Dexter

Location: Elm Street, Cortland

Sports: basketball, pickleball, tennis

Located on the corner Elm Street and Franklin Street, Dexter Park was updated in 2017 and has separate play areas for children age 2-5 and 5-12. The playground also has an inclusive swing, generational swing, toddler and bucket swings. Dexter Park is also home to a basketball court, two tennis courts, and the City's only pickleball courts.  


Randall

Location: Randall Street, Cortland

Suggett

Library at Lunch: Join Miss Tammy from the Cortland Free Library for story time in the park! Storytime will be held in the shade near the Burch Building at Suggett Park every Monday in July at 11:45am. No July 4th story date. No rain location.

Summer Concert Series: Thursday nights at 7 p.m. throughout the summer, check the Cortland Youth Bureau website and Facebook page for a schedule.

Arts, Parks, and Books: In collaboration with the Cortland Free Library, family oriented shows are held at Court House Park every Tuesday in July starting at 10:30am. July 11, 18, 25.

Shows will be listed on the Cortland Youth Bureau website and Facebook when details are finalized. Make sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at the library for weekly drawings at each performance.


 

Yaman

Location: Kennedy Parkway, Cortland

Sports: basketball, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, swimming

Outdoor skate park facility is located at Yaman Park. Skateboards, in-line skates, and 20 inch bikes are allowed in the park. Helmets and a parent waiver is required to use the facility. Elbow and knee pads are strongly encouraged. Youth under 18 years must have a parent waiver signed each year. The skate parks will be closed due to any unsafe weather and surface conditions. Location: Route 11, Homer

Located on Route 11, 1/2 mile north of the center of the village. Durkee Park has a pavilion, picnic facilities, playground, and a fishing dock in a beautiful setting for the whole family to enjoy.


Harry a. Calale Park

Location: Route 281, Homer

George vernum memorial park

Location: Main Street, Homer

Sports: basketball

Located on Main Street, behind the Village of Homer office, and next to the fire station. This facility provides a lighted basketball court and off-street parking.

Newton park

Location: Cayuga Street and Bartlett Avenue, Homer

Sports: kickball

Located on the corner of Cayuga Street and Bartlett Avenue, three blocks west of Main Street. This park has a neighborhood recreation area with swings, a slide, and a kickball diamond.


 

Lime hollow center for environment and culture

Location: 338 McLean Road, Cortland

Conveniently situated on the western edge of Cortland County, with properties in adjacent Tompkins County, the center offers over 20,000 visitors a year free-of-charge on-trail access to a 400-acre, geographically unique, and ecologically diverse outdoor oasis.

Trails are open dawn until dusk every day, free of charge, and trail maps can be found at the kiosk by the Visitor Center. Trailhead parking can be found at five locations.

Labrador hollow unique area

Location: Labrador Road, Tully

Labrador Hollow offers stunning visits and a variety of trails for those looking for a low-impact, leisurely stroll to a more intense and lengthy hike. The boardwalk with a view of Labrador Pond and view from below of Tinkers’ Falls are both wheelchair accessible with accessible parking lots available.


Town of virgil hope lake park

Location: 2245 Clute Road, Cortland, NY

Town residents will receive free admission to the park with town photo identification. Non-residents: $5 per person per day.


Greek Peak Adventure Center

Nor’easter Mountain Coaster

Must ride with a paying adult. The mountain coaster is 4,300 feet of pure excitement! A state-of-the-art graviational hybrid of an alpine slide and a roller coaster, this coaster is built to take full advantage of every peak, dip, vertical drop, and turn on the mountain.


Lighthouse landing canoe & kayak

Location: 3782 Rt. 11, Marathon

The Marathon, NY, campground has a wide array of attractions. From canoeing or kayaking to fishing and live music. Guests can raft down the river for hours, attend summer events, or just relax around the campsite.


Finger lakes trail

Miles of the Finger Lakes Trail pass through Cortland County. This premier footpath for hikers stretches over 1,000 miles from the Pennsylvania border in Alleghany State Park to the Catskill Forest Preserve. The trail passes through beautiful and remote areas of the Finger Lakes region, including trails in Cortland County. The trail weaves into Cortland County just south of Cuyler and Deruyter as it takes you through the Cuyler Hill State Forest, the Taylor Valley State Forest, Baker School House State Forest, Hoxie Gorge, Tuller Hill, past Greek Peak Mountain Resort, and then south of Virgil through the James Kennedy State Forest before it takes you into Tompkins County.
