Thanksgiving Activities for Small Families

If you're part of a small family, you may be looking for ways to make Thanksgiving extra special this year. Here are five ideas to make the holiday festive and fun for everyone in your household.

1. Make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Just because your family is small doesn't mean you can't enjoy all the classic dishes associated with the holiday. Plan ahead and spend the day cooking up a feast that includes all the staples, like roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Sit down together at the end of the day and enjoy your hard work.

2. Have a movie marathon. One of the best things about Thanksgiving is that it's a long weekend, which means you have plenty of time to relax and watch some of your favorite movies. Make some popcorn, curl up on the couch, and enjoy spending time together as a family while you laugh at your favorite comedies or get swept up in a classic.

3. Get out into nature. Bundle up and enjoy a crisp fall walk at Lime Hollow or go for a hike.. Enjoy the time bonding together as you take in the stunning scenery around you.

4. Play some games. From board games to video games, there are plenty of options when it comes to entertainment that everyone in your family can enjoy. Gather around the table for a rousing board game and enjoy some friendly competition. No matter what you play, you're sure to have fun spending time together as a family.

5. Volunteer together. Giving back is one of the best ways to feel grateful for what you have, and there's no better time to do it than during the holiday season. Find a local soup kitchen or food pantry that could use some extra help and spend a few hours volunteering as a family. You'll feel good about yourselves while also making a difference in your community.

No matter how small your family may be, there are plenty of ways to make Thanksgiving special this year. From cooking up a traditional feast to playing games together or giving back to those in need, there's something for everyone to enjoy on this holiday. So get creative and make some lasting memories with your loved ones this Thanksgiving season!
