5 Ways to Have a Happier Thanksgiving

  1. Take a few minutes to write down what you’re thankful for.

We may always be thankful for little things in our life but sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of just how lucky we are. Starting a list or a small gratitude journal is a great way to be thankful and it’s always nice to have for a rainy day!

  2. Send a card or a message to the people in your life you’re thankful for.

The holidays are fun and full of merriment and it’s the perfect time to share those good feelings with the people you care about. Taking the time to send a card or thoughtful message can really make someone’s holiday better. Spread that thankfulness!

  3. Thanksgiving means one thing for sure: FOOD! And lots of it

You have the classics: turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. That whole list gets my stomach grumbling but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a bit. Maybe try a new cranberry sauce recipe (I can vouch for this one myself!)? Another way to mix it up is to buy a few extra cans while you’re shopping to give to the local food pantry! You’ll be helping to ensure that everyone in Cortland County can have a happy holiday season.

  4. Help the YWCA ring in the season at their Holiday Open House

Saturday, November 23 from 11:00am-1:00pm the YWCA is holding their Holiday Open House. There will be food, crafts, games, family fun, and free pictures with Santa. You definitely don’t want to miss it!

  5. Holiday Shopping Day at the JM McDonald Sports Complex

This event takes place all day on November 30th and is a perfect way to get thoughtful, handmade, LOCAL gifts for the people you care about. What feels better than getting all your gift shopping done early?
